Emissions limit on merchant ships

At the 70th Session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), held last week in London, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) agreed to reduce by 2020 the sulfur content limit of marine fuels to 0,5 %.

It also approved the implementation of a system for collecting data on the fuel consumption of merchant ships in order to have accurate data on actual CO2 emissions.
