Modification of the fishing agreement between Morocco and the EU

The European Union (EU) and Morocco have agreed this week the modification of the fishing agreement through the elimination of the catch reporting obligation through the electronic system for vessels less than 12 meters in length from artisanal fishing (they may continue remitting their catches with a paper document) and through the simplification of the obligations of landing in Maghrebi ports, which affects the Spanish fleet from Andalusia, Galicia and the Canary Islands.

In this respect, the transit to European markets will count as fulfilling this requirement, allowing to use a different system to the local sales obligation while fishermen continue to supply fish to their markets of origin.
